Lace up flats are huge again this season. Extremely versatile, they're perfect with short or midi skirts, dresses, shorts, jeans and cropped trousers and can dress up even the most casual of off-duty outfits and make them look feminine.
A few pointers to help you get them right. Anything with an ankle strap has the effect of shortening the leg and drawing the eye to slender ankles. So they're wonderful - and you should rush out and buy a pair - if your thin ankles are one of your best features.
But if, like the majority of us, you don't have legs like a gazelle, opt for a plain style in a lighter colour. This will both lengthen your legs and draw less attention to your ankles. Avoid too much bulk when tying the laces by spacing them out a little as you wind them round your ankle. And always tie them at the back.
I've trawled the shops for the nicest ones and here are my picks across the price ranges. To link through to the website, just click on the photo itself or the name underneath. And for more inspiration on how to wear them, have a look at my pinterest page 'Lace Up Flats'.
